Why Use This Image Compressor?

  • Completely private – all processing happens inside your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your photos are never sent to any server.
  • Batch compression – upload dozens of images at once and compress them all in one go.
  • Multiple output formats – save as WebP for the smallest file sizes, JPEG for universal compatibility, or PNG for lossless quality.
  • HEIC support – iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos are automatically converted to JPEG before compression.
  • See the difference – each thumbnail shows the original size, compressed size, and the percentage reduction so you always know how much space you saved.
  • Free & unlimited – no sign-up, no watermarks, no limits.

Choosing the Right Output Format

Not sure which format to pick? Here's a quick guide:

  • WebP – best overall compression. Typically 25–35% smaller than JPEG at the same visual quality. Supported by all modern browsers and most social platforms. Ideal for web use.
  • JPEG – universally compatible with every device, app, and platform. Great for photos with lots of colour gradients. Quality 70–85 is a good sweet spot between size and clarity.
  • PNG – lossless compression. Larger files than JPEG/WebP but pixel-perfect — ideal for screenshots, logos, and images with flat colours or transparency.

No. The pixel width and height of your image are preserved exactly. Only the file size is reduced by adjusting the compression level and/or format.
For most photos, a quality of 75–85 gives an excellent balance between visual quality and file size. Values below 60 may introduce visible artefacts in busy areas of the image. PNG compression is lossless, so the quality slider does not apply.
