Singapore Passport Photo Requirements: 35 × 45 mm & 400 × 514 px
A new photograph must be submitted when applying for a new application.
Printed photo

A matte or semi matte finish (non-reflective) in high resolution is required for hardcopy submissions.

Photo size must be 35 mm wide and 45 mm high with no borders, your face measuring between 25 mm and 35 mm from chin to crown of head
Digital photo
- For online photo submission: The dimension is 400X514 pixels for upload of photos via e-Services.

File format: jpg, jpeg,heic, heif or png file extension

File size: less than 8 MB
Both printed photo and digital photo must be the following requirements:
- Photo must be taken within 3 months.
- There must be an even brightness in the photo.
- A neutral facial expression with a closed mouth is required.
- It must be clear, sharply focused, and free of pixelation.
- A full view of the shoulders and hair is required.
- The background of the photo must be white.
- Taken without wearing any hat or other head covering, unless you habitually wear a hat or head covering in accordance with your religious or racial custom. If any such hat or other head covering is worn, the photograph must still be a full frontal view of your head and shoulders, showing your facial features in entirety with eyes open and clearly visible
- Head gear/attire must be dark in colour against white background.
- Show you alone with no chair back, toys or other persons visible
- About the eyes:
- eyes open with no hair across and/or covering the eyes
- Eyes must be fully visible
- The lenses of the spectacles must be clear and untinted so that the eyes are clearly visible.The frame shall not cover any part of your eyes. Tinted glasses and sunglasses are not allowed;
- A non-coloured contact lens should be worn and red eyes should not occur
- Facial features must be taken at full frontal view. Eyes must be looking at the camera.
- Flipping or distorting a photo is not permitted.
- Digital photo must be original without alterations using computer software or mobile app.

Common Reasons Singapore Passport Photos May Be Rejected
A passport photo can be rejected if it doesn’t meet ICA’s basic requirements. The most common issues are:
- Wrong size or incorrect proportions
- Image is blurry, grainy, or low quality
- Face appears too small or too large in the frame
- Head is tilted, turned, or not facing forward
- Eyes are closed or not clearly looking at the camera
- Hair is covering the eyes or parts of the face
- Shadows on the face or uneven lighting in the background
- Glare or reflections from glasses
- Background is not plain white or has objects visible
- Photo is older than 3 months
- Heavy editing or retouching that changes natural appearance
Singapore Passport Photo Checklist
Before you upload your photo, quickly run through this checklist:
- Taken within the last 3 months
- Correct size (around 400 × 514 pixels for digital use)
- File size under 8 MB
- Plain white background with no shadows or objects
- Colour photo (not black and white)
- Face is centred and fully visible
- Head is straight and facing forward
- Eyes are open and clearly visible
- Image is sharp and not blurry
- No strong shadows on face or background
